Coin Metrics will cease collecting data from CEX.IO due to technical issues in data collection and the anticipated termination of CEX.IO's support of their legacy exchange.
On February 6, 2024, CEX.io launched a new exchange called CEX.IO Spot Trading. This was a new exchange that was separate from their existing exchange, which we refer to as the legacy exchange. CEX.IO migrated the majority of their users to CEX.IO Spot Trading, and CEX.IO has simultaneously continued to support their legacy exchange with a distinct URL and API, although they are no longer promoting it.
Coin Metrics has maintained data collection for CEX.IO's legacy exchange and assigned all data collected from the legacy exchange to the cex.io exchange identifier. Due to technical issues in data collection and the anticipated termination of CEX.IO's support of their legacy exchange, Coin Metrics will cease collecting data from the legacy exchange on about 2025-02-10. If this causes any issues for you, please let us know.
Coin Metrics will evaluate requests for adding support for CEX.IO Spot Trading and may enable collection for this new exchange in the future.
